What do you really need to get started? When can you get by just fine with cheap alternatives? Which paints will best match the style that you want to explore?
We'll dive into paints, brushes, supplies, early pitfalls we all encounter when starting out, and learn some truly handy techniques to start you off strong on a journey we hope you'll enjoy for a long time!
GROUP INTRODUCTORY ART LESSONS FOR
WATERCOLORS, OIL PAINTS, OR ACRYLICS
Have you ever wanted to try painting on a canvas without the stress of finishing a whole painting? Would you like to learn a little more about the tools used to create paintings, and how to use different kinds of paint? Trove’s painting workshop is a fun, casual group art lesson about the basics of painting on canvas, with the option of taking home supplies to start your own painting!

$800 for up to 25 guests, approx. 2 hours
at your venue, home or the Trove Arts Art Parlour
(Art Parlour is limited to 14 guests)

Introductory art lessons will cover the following topics:
PAINT SELECTION
We will discuss the difference between dirt cheap paints, hobby grade and professional level paints.
We will experiment with a few techniques with each level and learn about when each type might be best utilized.
BRUSH SELECTION
Choosing paint brushes from the endless offerings can be crazy. We'll navigate the various price ranges, shapes and bristle types. We'll then try a few brush types and learn techniques they are best suited for.
OIL, WATERCOLOR or ACRYLIC?
We'll explore, compare, and test different paints
so that you are confident when choosing a medium
for your next project.
BASIC TECHNIQUES,TIPS & TRICKS
We will work through several handy techniques that will move you from basic to more complex paintings. You may take home samples to refer to when working on your own.
