Is that a storm rumbling off in the distance?

The shadowy, skeletal raven above the door shudders to life and beckons you to find your seat...
Your journey is about to begin!
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
WHAT KIND OF SHOW IS THIS?
INTO THE SHADOWS is part HANDS - ON ART LESSON, part THEATRICAL PERFORMANCE, part ART HISTORY LESSON, and an EXPERIENCE we guarantee you'll talk about for some time!
SO... IT'S NOT AN ART CLASS?
You WILL be painting. And we'll discuss some real art techniques, and you will leave with an artwork that you created. But the focus of these art-themed events is more of the OVERALL EXPERIENCE without a complicated deep dive into the intricacies of advanced color theory.
One audience member has suggested that the painting aspect of the event was "almost like an abstract way of taking notes on what the show is teaching."
WILL I BRING A PAINTING HOME?
You will! And it won't be a follow-along copy-the-leader painting.
We carefully design our art projects to be easy enough for anyone to get satisfying results, with enough room to improvise for the experienced artist.
Again, the guided artwork is just part of this EXPERIENCE so it's designed to be pretty quick and enjoyable to create.
WHAT IS "THE TROVE ARTS ART PARLOUR?"
Good question! It's a lower flat of a classic bungalow duplex in Wauwatosa reimagined as a combination gallery/studio/performance space where audiences of 14 or less experience a truly immersive evening of art-based entertainment. More information about THE ART PARLOUR can be found HERE.
I REALLY LIKE BASIC PAINT-AND-SIP CLASSES. WILL I LIKE THIS?
or
I'M LOOKING FOR SOMETHING MORE SERIOUS THAN PAINT-AND-SIP CLASSES. WILL I LIKE THIS?
We think “paint-and-sip” events can be a great deal of fun, and there are plenty of places that do that very well.
However, a fair complaint sometimes about “paint-and-sip classes” is that they are streamlined, and simplified box mix activities geared more towards boisterous, wine-fueled fun without much depth.
Again, nothing wrong with that.
At the opposite end of the spectrum are in-depth art classes for people who are focused solely on improving their craft. These lessons can and should be rather serious and not necessarily a great deal of “fun.”
TROVE ARTS SHOWS BRIDGE THE GAP between splash-and-dash paint-and-sip parties and deep-diving serious art lessons.
We have worked hard to create events that are absolutely fun and enjoyable for both the serious artist and someone just “looking for something unique new to do.”
